Sundar Pichai-1-1024x630Buffett declared that he would donate more than 80 percent to foundations that support charitable causes. In the year 2020, he increased that amount to 99 percent. The principal beneficiary was the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, founded by Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his then wife Melinda, which was primarily dealt with issues of global health and education; Bill and Buffett were in close bond since the 1990s. Other organizations that received donations were those run by Buffett's sons and the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation named after his late wife. This foundation focuses on women's reproductive health and funded college scholarships. The Giving Pledge was an invitation for other wealthy people to contribute a substantial portion of their wealth to charities which was founded by Buffett and Gates in 2010.
